Lesser Egyptian Jerboas are a nocturnal species of small rodent native to Africa and the Middle East. Their hind legs are incredibly large and they hop to move around. The tail is used to balance when jumping, and they have 3 toes on each hind foot. Jerboas feed on seeds, insects, succulent parts of desert grasses, and fungi. It does not need to drink, and water is provided from the food it eats.
